The birthplace of Canada, the home of Brock's Monument, as well as the Laura Secord Monument; picnickers have used this park for generations. Facilities include two picnic pavilions, washroom facilities, children's wading pool, fine dining at Queenston Heights Restaurant, tennis courts, a bandshell, and children's playground. A carpet bedding display at the entrance to the park greets all visitors to this popular location. Sugar Maples, White Oaks, White Ash, Red Oaks, and many other native tr ee species dominate this landscape. Queenston Heights Park is also the starting/ending point of the Bruce Trail, which winds it way northward over several hundred kilometres to Tobermory. This trail, which passes through the Niagara Escarpment, has been recognized as a world biosphere by U.N.E.S.C.O. Finally, Parks Canada oversees the operation of Brock's Monument and also has a walking tour of the historic sites associated with this important battleground.
