The term 'table rock' is derived from the origin of the flat rock once situated at the brink of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Due to the instability of this rock formation it was declared unstable and the remainder of it was blown away in 1935. Today 'table rock' is in name only as the original structure is only seen in the early drawings and photos of Niagara Falls.
