Biggs

Biggs is located in Sherman County, and is a major crossroads where Hwy 97 intersects I-84 and Sam Hill Memorial Bridge crosses the Columbia River. Also situated east of The Dalles, and just north of Wasco. Originally, this was a train station marking a spur line into Sherman County. The community is sometimes known as Biggs Junction, it was named for W.H. Biggs, pioneer landowner and legislator.

The public is served with service stations, truck stops, restaurants, markets, McDonald's and motels. Grain storage elevators and rail and barge shipping facilities serve local grain producers. Its location offers easy access to Maryhill Museum of Art and Maryhill State Park across the Columbia River. A hiking segment on the Oregon Trail is a short distance west, as is Deschutes River State Park. Windsurfing and rock hounding are also popular pass-times in the Biggs area.
