Tillamook Bay Bird Watching

From early August to March, Tillamook Bay is one of the best spots in the state for birding.

Low tide is when the most shorebirds are in the open, feeding. High to mid tides are best for ordinary binoculars while lower tides are ideal for spotting scopes.

North is the turnoff to Bar View Jetty Park. Proceed to the entrance and turn left just after the kiosk. A walk (sometimes treacherous) out the jetty can bring you within reach of pelagic species, such as migrating shearwaters, jaegers and black-legged kittiwakes.
