Worthwhile Birding Stops N. of Florence
|---|
Possible birding venues are Neptune and Devil's Elbow State Parks. Other venues include Bob Creek Beach Access, Stonefield Beach and Ocean Beach. At Strawberry Hill, you may also see some sea lions. Snowy plovers are often spotted at Baker Beach. Stop at the unnamed beach access to check for gulls, flocks of least and western sandpipers, black turnstones and surfbirds. In the water, look for scoters and in the summer look for pelicans, murers and auklets out further. This is also a good place to spot harbor seals and grey whales.
