Empire Lakes Park

Empire District and Empire Pier

Empire Lake is ringed by numerous trails. The best birding here is early or late. Look for ducks, hooded mergansers, and ringed-necked ducks.

The Empire pier is currently one of only two piers that are officially open to the public on the Coos Bay estuary. From the 210-foot pier, one can view the bay. Look for herons and egrets as well as bay ducks, grebes, loons, and maybe even some pelicans.
