Dune mushers operate sleds drawn by dogs, with the difference from the Arctic version being that these sleds run across sand dunes on wheels.The annual Oregon Dune Mushers Mail Run begins at Horsfall Beach across the Coos River harbor from North Bend. Competitors travel to Reedsport the first day and continue to the finish in Florence the following day, for a total of 70 miles. The run is billed as the longest dry-land dog team event in the world.
