George Fox University is a highly ranked Christian liberal arts college founded by the Quakers more than a century ago. It currently offers 35 undergraduate programs and 12 graduate programs at campuses in Newberg, Portland, Salem, and Eugene, as well as its Boise Center in Idaho.

The 31st President of the United States, Herbert Hoover, spent part of his boyhood at the University's precursor academy in Newberg and an extensive Hoover Collection of memorabilia is on display and open to the public in the Hoover Academic Building. The public is also welcome to visit the Lindgren Gallery, displaying rotating shows of regional and student artists. Self-guided tour maps are available in the Stevens Center at the Newberg Campus. Rose afficionados will enjoy the Virginia Millage Memorial Rose Garden located in the center of the Newberg campus quadrangle.
