An important river of northeast Oregon, the Grande Ronde has its origins in the <a href="http://www.ohwy.com/or/b/bluemtns.htm">Blue Mountains</a> in the <a href="http://www.ohwy.com/or/w/walwhinf.htm">Wallowa-Whitman National Forest</a> in Union County. It flows through <a href="http://www.ohwy.com/or/l/lagrande.htm">La Grande</a> and meanders through the <a href="http://www.ohwy.com/or/g/graronvy.htm">Grande Ronde Valley</a>, heading north past <a href="http://www.ohwy.com/or/e/elgin.htm">Elgin</a>. About 20 miles beyond Elgin, it is joined by the <a href="http://www.ohwy.com/or/w/wallowar.htm">Wallowa River</a> and continues its flow north and east into Washington, where it eventually joins the <a href="http://www.ohwy.com/or/s/snakeriv.htm">Snake River</a>.<P>       <P>
