The eight-mile Hanan Trail accesses the Hanan Roadless Area and the headwaters of the Wild & Scenic Sycan River. This historic trail was a part of an early transportation route into the upper Sycan River country. Archaeological evidence in the area suggests that sections of the trail follow a prehistoric seasonal migration route used by Indians traveling from the Chewaucan Basin to Sycan Marsh. Wildlife viewing is exceptional and seasonal wildflowers can be found in the two large meadows next to the trail.
