Haystack Rock is a geologic formation harkening back to Oregon's volcanic past. The rock is basalt, 235 feet high and is part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Lewis & Clark Expedition visited this area in January of 1806. This 2 mile trek starts next to the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce Information Center in downtown Cannon Beach. Proceeding from the parking lot towards the beach, turn south on the beach and proceed towards the rock.
