Lewis and Clark College was founded by Presbyterian pioneers as Albany Collegiate Institute in 1867. The school moved to the former Lloyd Frank estate in
Portland's southwest hills in 1942 and took the name Lewis & Clark College.
The College is in Multnomah County, only 50 miles west of Mount Hood and 80 miles east of the Pacific Ocean. They have an enrollment of about 3200 and student housing is available for 1003.
The campus is spread across 133 acres on Palatine Hill and about 12 acres, including the Manor House and Gatehouse, which are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Among the over 30 Programs of Study are: Gender Studies, Political Economy, Inventing America and East Asian Studies.
Of note, the Law School's environmental and natural resources law program is ranked #1 in the nation, according to the U.S. News & World Report's annual survey of graduate programs.
