Lakeside Oregon

The Most Comfortable Climate on the Coast

Lakeside is located in northern Coos County south of Reedsport, between Winchester Bay and North Bend, off of Highway 101 at mile post marker 222.

It can now be definitely established where the name "Ten Mile Lakes" originated. One account tells of an Indian called "Ten Mile Tom", who in about 1850, built the first permanent cabin in what is now Lakeside near the present Lakeshore Lodge. His name came from his habit of replying, when asked how far it was to any place, "Oh, about Ten Miles". In time his nickname was transferred to the lakes. Lakeside is centrally located on the Oregon Coast with 187 miles of shoreline on beautiful Tenmile Lakes encompassing 2723 acres of year-round fishing (bass, trout, steelhead) and various water sport entertainments.
