This trail is a self-guided tour through some of the area's history. Visitors will learn how the trail developed from a path cut by animals into a road that helped link Florence and Eugene. The history of the original road makes it eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the trail covers a portion of the old trail, as well as part of the original road. There are interpretive signs.
From Florence, drive northeast approximately 17 miles on the North Fork Siuslaw Road (Forest Rd 5070). Contact the Mapleton Ranger District for more information.
