The Metropolitan Youth Symphony was founded on the belief that the study of music can be an integral part of a child becoming a well-rounded adult. Not only can music promote intellectual and aesthetic knowledge, it also builds many leadership skills such as responsibility, discipline, communication, acceptance, and pride.
Musical ability levels range from the beginnings of musical training to the performance of full symphonic music. All musicians must audition yearly and are placed in a group by ability, not age. The young musicians receive professional instruction from our conductors, as well as outstanding musicians in the community.
