This wildlife refuge harbors six subspecies of Canada geese, and supports 10% of the world population of dusky Canada geese. Late October to early April is the prime time of year to view geese feeding on surrounding short grass pastures. In addition to these pastures, the refuge also includes wooded uplands, riparian wetlands, salt marsh, and open meadows, providing habitat for waterfowl, shorebirds, mammals, amphibians, and much more.
Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge is located south of Pacific City off Highway 101.
