Oregon Dunes Overlook

A popular viewpoint between Florence and Reedsport, part of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Towering sand dunes can be seen for miles in both directions.

A paved trail leads visitors to a viewing area and several picnic sites. The trail then continues for another 1/2 mile (not paved) to the open dunes and the beach.

It is now officially called the Oregon Dunes Day Use Area because of a bureaucratic rule that said that USFS couldn't charge a fee for an overlook, but they could for a day use area. Hence the name change.
