Pistol River State Park

Search Visit Oregon
An excellent birding spot and a favorite with ocean windsurfers, who gather here for some of the best conditions on the south coast. The park has a day-use picnic area but no other facilities. The river has changed course, cutting the park off from ready beach access, but there are some nice areas for the energetic hiker. A bit north on Hwy 101, keep your eye peeled for the historical marker commemorating the Battle of Pistol River, fought during the Rogue River Indian War.
