12,000 acres of state-owned habitat for wintering waterfowl, swans, herons, sandhill cranes, bald eagles and 250 other species. Access is restricted during hunting season and spring. Fishing allowed.
To get there, take Highway 30 to Sauvie Island Bridge and proceed toward the north end of Sauvie Island. The Refuge is off Reeder Road.
Picnicking and other day-use activities are allowed provided they do not conflict with fish and wildlife needs. Sites are not developed for these uses, drinking water is not available, and restrooms are primitive.
