In 1846 Jesse Applegate led a group of 15 men over the Cascades seeking an easier route than the Oregon Trail into the Northwest. Part of the
Applegate Trail can be seen at this state park on Hwy 66, 18 miles east of
Ashland. An interpretive panel describes the difficulties faced by those pioneers.
The name of the park comes from the tubs that were installed here in the 1930s to provide spring water for travelers. These tubs have been renovated and are still in use today.
Quality experiences await visitors to more than 200 state parks managed for the public by the Oregon State Parks.
