Ukia is located in Umatilla County, south of Pendleton along Highway 395, and southeast of La Grande along Highway 244.The post office was established September 22, 1890, with DeWitt C. Whiting becoming the first postmaster. Hiking, hunting, fishing, camping and many other Outdoor Activities are available within the Umatilla National Forest. Lehman Hot Springs is 17 miles outside of town. Tollbridge Campground is a seven space tent/RV park, which is located in town. There is also a Ukiah, California.
