Located on the southernmost portion of the
Umatilla National Forest, the area covers 25,000 acres, including Vinegar Hill, the highest elevation in the Forest at 8,100 feet.
The major attraction of this area is the 360 degree view available from several high elevation points. In contrast to the adjacent forested areas, hiking here is through grassy alpine areas and amidst subalpine trees.
