The Western portion of Douglas County, including the estuary of the Umpqua River and the communities of Reedsport, Gardiner, and Winchester Bay, represents a section of the
Oregon Coast region of Oregon.
The major communities are on the Umpqua River: Reedsport and Winchester Bay. The Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area headquarters is in Reedsport on Highway 101.
