Bally is located in scenic
Berks County and is part of the
Reading, Pennsylvania metropolitan area.
The town was originally known as Goshenhoppen, an Indian name meaning "meeting place." Later, the name was changed to honor Fr. Augustin J. Bally, a local Catholic priest.
Bally is home to St. Francis Academy, the oldest continually operated Catholic school in the nation. Today, Bally's population is approximately 1,100.
