Regional maritime heritage with emphasis on the War of 1812 is interpreted through interactive exhibits and multimedia presentations. A facsimile section of a wooden warship damaged by cannonballs is used to illustrate the rigors of fighting at sea. The centerpiece of the museum is a reconstruction of the Niagara, Oliver Hazard Perry's relief flagship at the Battle of Lake
Erie. The sailing brig can be toured when it is in port. Food and guided tours are available. Open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday noon-5pm; closed major holidays. Phone ahead for Niagara docking schedule.
