Factoryville is located in Wyoming County. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,465, an increase of 155 since 1990. Factoryville is best known as the birthplace of baseball's Christy Mathewson. In the 1820s, people came from all around to have their wool woven into cloth at the factory here, hence the name Factoryville.
