Greensburg is located in western Pennsylvania, within
Westmoreland County, of which it is the county seat, southeast of
Pittsburgh between
Irwin and
Ligonier along Highway 30 near the Loyalhanna Reservoir. The city sits on the Allegheny Plateau and is part of the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.
Greensburg was named after Gen. Nathanael Greene, a Revolutionary War hero. Greensburg is part of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania metro area.
