Hanover

Hanover is located in York County just southwest of York along Highway 94 near the Maryland state line. Lake Marburg is just east of Hanover.

Hanover was named by its early German immigrants for Hannover, Germany. During the Civil War, the Battle of Hanover was the first battle fought on Pennsylvania soil, and some say, it was the first fought on northern soil.

Hanover is one of the largest retail areas in the state, and one of the largest manufacturing regions as well. The town is also known as the "snack food capital," home to almost a dozen snack food producing companyies.
