Kittanning is located in
Armstrong County, of which it is the county seat, northeast of
Pittsburgh between
Butler and Indiana along US Highway 422 on the banks of the
Allegheny River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 4,780, a decrease of 340 since 1990.
