Marietta is located in
Lancaster County west of
Lancaster along Highway 441 on the banks of the Susquehanna River.
The town flourished in the colonial days as a result of river commerce on the Pennsylvania Canal and the Pennsylvania Railroad. Today, 50% of the town is listed as part of the Marietta Historic District.
