Maytown is a small picturesque community located in the southwest quadrant of East Donegal Township, in the northwestern part of
Lancaster County, which is in the southeastern part of the State.
Named for Donegal, Ireland, Donegal Township split into East and West townships in 1838. East Donegal Township, population 5,534, is a 2nd Class Township covering 24.4 square miles and more than 80% agricultural.
Maytown was founded May 1, 1762, 25 years before Pennsylvania was admitted to the Union.
