South Tamaqua

South Tamaqua is located in Schuylkill County northwest of Allentown between Tamaqua and Snyders along Route 309. Mantzville, their nearest neighbor, is on Route 443. Perhaps the beginning part of Route 443 E. is still considered South Tamaqua. Tuscarora State Park and the Appalachian Trail.

Pop. was approximately 7,943 in 1990, and the approximate number of families was 3,594 in 1990.

The town is named for an Indian name for "beaver".
