In 1861 Julius Sturgis established what is said to be the first pretzel bakery in the United States. The bakery dates from 1784; this first commercial pretzel factory dates from 1861. Handmade soft pretzels are baked in the 200-year-old oven, and visitors are taught how to twist pretzel dough. Guided tours Monday-Saturday 9:30am-4:30pm; closed major holidays.
