This is the 1828 Federal mansion of James Buchanan, the only Pennsylvanian to become president of the United States. He conducted his 1856 presidential campaign from the library. Restored period rooms contain original Buchanan furnishings and decorative objects. Costumed guides conduct tours. Candlelight tours are offered the first two weeks in December. One-hour tours begin every half-hour, daily 10am-4pm, April-November; closed Easter and Thanksgiving.
