The Boys Club of Pawtucket was founded in 1900. It took 87 years for Girls to become members, in 1987. In 1990, the Boys Club Headquarters changed its name from "The Boys Club," into "The Boys and Girls Club," and officially became a unisex organization.
These days just about everything has changed from the original club, the name, its policies, etc. However one thing stays the same, the vision. The vision to try to provide a safe place where the cycle of poverty, with all its rough edges, might be rounded off and the dreams of children are nurtured and encouraged.
