Miriam Hospital |
The Miriam Hospital (TMH) is a private 247-bed, not-for-profit, acute care general hospital founded by Rhode Island's Jewish community in 1926. The Miriam provides a broad range of primary, secondary and tertiary medical and surgical services to adolescents and adults in 31 medical and surgical specialties and sub-specialties. In addition, TMH provides a full range of cardiac, pathological and radiology services as well as psychiatric consultation/liaison services. TMH is affiliated with and serves as a major teaching affiliate of Brown Medical School.
In 1952, The Miriam moved from its original location on Parade Street in Providence, Rhode Island to its current site at 164 Summit Avenue. A major renovation project was completed in 1995, updating the main lobby, laboratories and other areas, completing a new two story building, and providing new quarters for the emergency department.
