Roger W. Wheeler State Beach has provided generations of people with unforgettable memories.

During the 1700's, the Wig and Tory parties in England were in constant conflict in Parliament during the American Revolution. Their power shifted back and forth in Parliament and in the Colonies. However, it came to be that a Tory by the name of John bull ended up taking over the land. He was the successful owner of it until the State (in the late 1700's) confiscated the land. For almost 200 years nothing was done to the land, until 1955. At this time the land was cleared and transferred to the Department of Natural Resources (which in 1975 became the Department of Environmental Management) who built a state-of-the-art bathroom complex complete with a handicapped access ramp.

Throughout the last 50 years, Roger Wheeler has graced the memories of many people, and is waiting for you!
