Slater Mill Historic Site |
The 5.5 acres of the restored Slater Mill Historic Site displays the first industrialization in America during the late 18th and early 19th centuries in the birthplace of American industry. Slater duplicated British water-powered spinning, picking, carding, drawing, and roving machines. The complex depicts factory production and life in a 19th century industrial village. Guided tours include the 1758 Sylvanus Brown House and the 1793 Mill. An 8 ton wheel powers the 1810 Wilkinson Mill.
