Due West is located in Abbeville County along Highway 184 near Sumter National Forest. A small town south of Greenville and close to Sumter National Forest.

Due West is about 12 miles north of Abbeville and takes its name from an old trading post on the Cherokee Path established by a man named De Witt or Duett. Due West is home of Erskine College.

Due West is situated in Abbeville County, South Carolina, an area rich in colonial, Revolutionary War, and Civil War History. The town and the college, with a number of antebellum buildings, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. An annual spring festival brings a large number of tourists to share in the cultural and historic heritage of the county.

Due West is located near a number of lakes and recreational areas and within easy access to Interstate Routes 26 and 85 and the cities of Atlanta, [charlott], Columbia, and Greenville.
