Built in 1763 by John Rutledge, signer of the United States Constitution, this elegant home, now a bed and breakfast inn, contains original parquet floors, Italian marble mantels and plaster molded ceilings. Guests are offered afternoon tea in the ballroom, evening turndown with chocolates at bedside, and continental breakfast with a newspaper delivered to their room. Many famous patriots, statesmen and presidents have visited here, including George Washington in 1791. The John Rutledge House is one of the Historic Hotels of America and is a AAA 4-Diamond and Mobil 4-Star rated establishent.
