The Pickens County Museum of Art & History is located in Pickens, South Carolina. The museum is housed in the old Pickens County Jail. The museum consists of two floors. Various exhibits are displayed throughout the year. The museum features a Bacon and Raven piano that was made in New York and shipped to South Carolina. It is referred to as a square piano that has 73 keys. The piano is of the late Empire style veneered with rosewood. Early 20th century textbooks, slates, and desk are displayed in this setting. Also shown is a graduation dress worn by a pioneer girl. The museum contains a historical collection on the first floor and an art museum upstairs with both changing and permanent exhibits. The museum is free to the public.

02/21 Coming to The Pickens area Heart of America Shakespeare Festival Kansas City MO June18-July7 The Heart of America Shakespeare Festival is set under the stars in South Moreland Park near Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. It is a perfect way to spend a summer evening with family and friends. They have several programs to study and explore such as Speaker's Bureau and Poster and Sonnet Contest. The faculty includes theatre professionals, actors, and educators experienced in performing and teaching Shakespeare. Many of the instructors are veterans of festival productions.
