Port Royal is located in Beaufort County along Highway 802 on the banks of the Coosaw River near the Port Royal Sound. Port Royal is a small community south of Beaufort near the Parris Island Marine Corps base.
Port Royal is a town steeped in history and the community reflects that. There are several points of interest situated in the town including the Town Hall and Memorial Clock. The new building was completed in early 1995, and houses the Town Hall Administrative Offices. The Memorial Clock was dedicated on August 14, 1995, marking the 50th anniversary of V-J Day and the official end of World War II. Historic Port Royal Foundation is home to Historic Port Royal Foundation. The over 100-year old structure was originally built as a church (The Union Church).
Port Royal also offers walking trails, a community beach, a boardwalk and an observation tower.
