Seneca

Seneca is located in Oconee County between Clemson and Westminster along Highway 59 near Lake Hartwell and Lake Keowee. The town is situated west of Greenville near the Savannah River in northwest South Carolina.

The City of Seneca was founded August 14, 1873 as "Seneca City" and chartered on March 14, 1874. Its location was determined by the junction of two railroad lines connecting Charlotte and Atlanta. In the Spring of 1873, railroad engineers projected that the connecting point would be where the city is now located.

The climate in the Seneca area is temperate with a mean annual temperature of 60F while the average July temperature is 78F. Seneca, the largest city in Oconee County, is located in the northwestern corner of South Carolina, "The Golden Corner of South Carolina."
