Located four miles west of
Rapid City, the site is considered to be the Black Hills area's greatest crystal cave; a wide variety of formations can be seen in these 3-level wind caverns that include a series of chambers and 28 different cave rooms with colorful varieties of calcite crystals, rare amethyst, logomites, stalactites, stalagmites, and more.
An on-site geological museum displays formations, minerals, gems, and rocks as well as a gemstone mining exhibit. Two tour options are offered, from one hour in length to a less strenuous 1/2-hour walk; tours depart every 20 minutes. The Cave is open daily; picnicking is permitted.
