Delbridge Museum of Natural History |
Contained within the Great Plains Zoo, the museum displays an irreplaceable exhibit of more than 150 mounted native and exotic animals; the specimens on exhibit here were all hunted legally in the 1940s-70s, and many have since become endangered. A mounted panda is among the museum's highlights.
Various ecosystems are illustrated in realistic specimen settings, including the African plain and a tropical river, which allow visitors to view animals as they would in the wild. The museum stresses the importance of wildlife conservation, and a hands-on Discovery Center provides contact with a variety of animal artifacts. Open year-round; admission to the museum is free with admission to the Great Plains Zoo.
