Howard is the county seat of Miner County, and is located where Hwy 34 meets Hwy 25, approximately 40 miles west of I-29, in Dakota Heritage & Lakes Region.As the first municipality in South Dakota to own and operate its own wind turbines, Howard is able to provide "green energy" to its residential and commercial customers. Howard, and the surrounding Miner County, are within one-hour driving distance of the major cities of eastern South Dakota, and is encouraging economic growth.
