Huron is located in
Beadle County (of which it is the county seat) east of
Pierre on US 14 and Hwy 37 on the banks of the
James River near Lake Cavour and Lake Byron, in
Glacial Lakes & Prairies Region. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 11,778, a decrease of 670 since 1990.
