The Athabasca Sand Dunes has been preserved as a provincial wilderness park. Stretching for about 100 kilometres along the south shore of Lake Athabasca, it is located in northwest Saskatchewan. This is the largest area of active sand dunes in Canada. It is also located farther north than any other sand dunes in the world.
