This beautiful course in the heart of Saskatchewan's lake district is situated right on the historic Carlton Trail, and the trail is clearly visible in several places. The front 9 holes opened in 1987, and the back 9 were completed in 1993. Both were designed by the club's owners with the assistance of the Saskatchewan Golf Association, and follow the contours of the rolling parkland on which they are located. The 18 holes are loosely arranged on three sides of Lost Pinnacle Lake, but because of lakeside trees, the body of water is only in play on one hole. Despite this, there is still a lot of water in play at Spiritwood, as creeks and ponds are generously scattered throughout the course.
