Dumfries |
Dumfries is a river port and the county town of Dumfriesshire on the River Nith, 33 miles NW of Carlisle. It is connected with Maxwelltown (with which it was incorporated in 1929) in Kirkcudbrightshire by three bridges, including one built in the 13th century.
